Founded on January the 15th of 2009, the Euro-Mediterranean Risk Training Association has for purpose to facilitate the cooperative efforts of the risk trainings within the Euro-Mediterranean area. It was created by gathering the training services to the scientific researchers after the very successful 1st edition of the European Risk Training days that took place on the 19th of May 2009 at the UNESCO site.

The Aim of « The Euro-Mediterranean Risk Society »

The escalation of risks of all kinds characterizes modern society, as can be appreciated by the use of such terms as « the Society of risk » (Ulrich Beck), or « The Archipelago of Danger » (GY Kervern).

From repeated natural disasters, major murderous or devastating technological incidents, ecological threats or great financial and economic crises, through to worldwide terrorist threats and climatic changes or health catastrophes, … the massive, far-reaching and plural nature of risk in modern society strikes by its pandemic aspect.

In this context, the forces that represent the risk managing executors have to be reinforced and mobilized, but first and foremost, among them the strengths that represent the trainings and the deliberating side of risk management have to be assembled and united.

To the massive, global and plural nature of risks, the gathering of these assets will allow an organised and collective opposition, through the coordinated efforts of the trainings and scientific research based on a variety of subject matters.

Moreover, such an assembly of the executive aspect of the risk-managing world will undoubtedly be facilitated by the supportive gathering of the risk trainings themselves.

By gathering the various strengths of risk management and the trainings taking place in the Euro-Mediterranean area, the purpose of the Euro-Mediterranean Risk Society is to contribute to the cohesiveness, prosperity and sustainable development of the Euro-Mediterranean area and its populations.
